Yes we have nice but simple tents for you and you don't need to bring them in the plane.
We use simple but nice two-person tents.

Also for some cold nights we have blankets.

How do I (re)charge my batteries during the trips?
Our Jeeps are equiped with plugs, so please bring your own (specific) batterychargers which you use and that's all.
On the campsite we 'organise' a specific photo table or if needed a phototent where you can also use power.
Almost every day we try to arrange a possibility to charge batteries or to use your laptop or other electronic equipments.
Of course this is also depending on your travelling schedule.

How do the campsites look like, are there toilets and showers?
The campsites we use are mostly situated in the middle or just outside the national parcs.
Main characteristic is simplicity. There is water to wash yourselves and brush your teeth (not to drink).
There often are natural toilets.
For instance in the Serengeti there are no real showers because animals (elephants) destroy them in the dry season looking for water.
Very often more you stay with more trucks on the same campsite so you can share your experiences with colleague-photographers or filmers.
This is a good way of finding the animals by listening to people who haven been searching for them all day.
This way of going camping is the ultimate safari feeling, being one with nature.
It's really an adventure if you hear the animals roaring after sunset has fallen in.

How many people are in the car?
Normally we plan a maximum of four photograpers in one car (Cook and driver/guide excluded).
So we can guarantee everyone has enough space for taking pictures and for your personal gear.
Of course everyone wants to have a good window seat to take to pictures he or she desires.
In close deliberation before leaving it's possible to have more people in the car if you don't mind.
Jeeps often have 7 or 8 seats.

Who is taking care of the food and drinks?
One we have left Arusha you don't need to think about food, drinks and cooking at all.
We bring a cook who is taking care of that.
We daily provide breakfast, lunch and diner.
Also washing the dishes is taken care of, you only have to relax.
The moments for eating and breaks are completely deliberated with you.
If you prefer to visit a particular spot like a hippopool somewhere far in the parc, we will arrange this for you and take into account to bring lunch, drinks, etc.
Of course always depending on the local weather and road conditions.
Even if we need to drive a couple of hours we will adapt our eating schedule and bring what we need.
We are very flexible and try to make to suit your whishes as much as possible.
What about alcohol on safari?
You know in Tanzania most people are moslims but the people are very open minded and tolerant, also related to alcohol.
So bying beer (Kilis) is possible on our way.
If you prefer to have you own wine or beer, please tell us before leaving from Arusha so we can buy it there.
These kind of special drinks or snacks are not included in the package price.

Why is even a budget safary still expensive?
Even joining a budget safari is still not inexpesive, why?
The Tanzanian government has discovered for years that (eco)tourism is a very important source of income.
Only with strict regulations one is able to conservate these wonderful flora and fauna which everybody appreciates that much.
Thats the reason why we visit the official Tanzanian National Parcs like The Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, etc.
The entrance fees for these parcs are pretty expensive.
Almost 90% of your costs are directly going to these compulsory fees, like entrance fees, car fees, camping fees, etc.
No, Tanzania has a clever wildlife and nature policy and your money is used to keep the parcs and animals alive.
Thats your contribution to conservate this wildlife.

What kind of money do I bring with me and how can I pay?
Tanzania is using Tanzanian Shillings but in safariland everybody uses U.S. Dollars.
Thats pretty good with the current Euro/Dollar rate!
All parc fees, etc. are in U.S.
Dollars so if you bring cash, please bring U.S Dollars.
Euros are becoming more common and often accepted easily but dont completely rely on that.
What about traveller cheques, they are assured?
Please dont bring all your money in traveller cheques.
Only bringing your credit cards is also not recommended.
Even though Tanzania is pretty modern, some days banks or changing offices are closed or have electronic problems.
If their IT/systems dont operate properly you have a problem and you cant pay (and depart for your safari!).
Its wise to call or email us before leaving what amounts should be paid cash and what can be paid with traveller cheques.
For instance the National Parcs accept traveller cheques but food and fuel should be paid cash.
We are able to recommend whats the best option for your specific trip.

What kind photo or filming equipment do you recommend?
Of course every body is free to bring your own equipment.
Snapshot cameras are often not giving you the pictures you wish to bring home.
A (digital) reflex camera with a 200 or 300 mm lens is recommend.
Please dont forget your wide angle for the beautiful scenery and sunset shots!
You can leave your tripod at home, you cant easily use them in the cars.
We have beanbags for you.
In this digital era bringing digital storage (devices) is a good way for backups and storing your pictures.
If you have, bring your imagetank or laptop or spare CF-cards. Battery recharging is no problem.

Whats the best season to go on safari?
Tanzania is also having winter and summertime but more important is to take into account the dry and rainy season.
Please search on the regular weather websites to find the best months for you.
Information about the expected rainfall estimates can be found easily.
Also Africa is facing the results of global warming and last couple of years the regular seasons were also different than normal.
The regular more strict separation between dry and rainy seasons has vanished.
In the dry season the plains are dry and covered with yellow (long) grass.
Sometimes difficult to spot the animals but the road conditions are better than in the rainy season.
In that period you will find nice green and short grass.
Depending on what you prefer, find your best moment to come.
Tanzania is all year around a good place to visit, but some months are of course better than others.
Also the famous wildebeest migration is completely related to the rains which the herds follow.
The people at Lucky Tours pretty good know where the herds can be found most likely.
Of course there are never any real guarantees, thats why its called game drive. Spotting the animals is like a game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
But all times finding the animal you are looking for is fantastic!

What about wild animals and insects?
Of course there are many wild animals and particularly the parcs we are visiting contain a lot of them.
Lions, elephants, buffalos you will find for sure.
Other species are sometimes more difficult to find.
For instance leopards are difficult to spot or rhinos are very rare.
Also spiders and snakes are there but normally you wont see them.
Taking precautions and some preparation is wise.
Its good to know what to expect and how to act best in case you will meet something.
During game drives you are never permitted to leave the cars, so do t be afraid anything happens.
On the campsite we dont have fences and also guns are not common.
Animals know to avoid the campsites an for many years people are camping in the parcs.
Bugs are there but not that many.
There are mosquitos during the evenings and bring some repellent.
Depending on the season there might be tsee tsee flies, but normally thats not really a problem.
Having shirts with long sleeves is recommend, there are many branches how provide specific clothes for the tropics, easy drying, etc.
Bringing a cap or hat is also recommended, the sun shines very often and right on the equator getting sun burned or worse having sunfeever should be avoided.
Suncream is also wise to bring.

Do we find those 1.5 million wildebeasts?
If you watch televison you often see the wildebeest migration.
Thousands of wildebeests crossing the crocodile invested rivers.
These images are superb but a bit betraying of the real situation.
Those filmers often stay in the parcs for months to get these shots.
They exactly know where to be at what time.
Its really difficult to plan a rivercrossing on forehand.
Those crossings are often only lasting a couple of hours.
If youre not there you are too late.
Better chances next year.
All we want to say is be prepared that finding the animals and particularly the wildebeasts and the crossings is of course very difficult to plan.
We want to be open and honest to you about that.
